You can read useful information about the LG functions.

What kind of LG functions do we (ChimeraTool) have and what are they for?

Network Factory Reset: Normally, Network Factory Reset resets all network related settings to the device’s factory state, before it was configured by any company or carrier. This can repair devices that don’t connect to networks that are compatible by factory state or fix signal/reception related issues.

Network Factory Reset (EFS clear): Normally, Network Factory Reset resets all network related settings to the device’s factory state, before it was configured by any company or carrier. This can repair devices that don’t connect to networks that are compatible by factory state or fix signal/reception related issues. This procedure will clear the EFS of the device.

Repair MAC: Every NIC (Network Interface Card) has a unique MAC address (Media Access Control). This applies to all types of network cards, including Ethernet cards and WiFi cards. The MAC Address is a six-byte number or 12-digit hexadecimal number that is used to uniquely identify a host on a network. All MAC addresses are hard-coded into a network card and can never be changed. However, they can be changed or spoofed in the operating system itself. The Repair MAC function is for restoration of the original MAC address of a device.

Bypass & Remove FRP: The Bypass FRP procedure let you skip the Android setup wizard. The device will still be FRP locked, so the next time you factory reset it, you will be stuck in the setup again, but until the next Factory Data Reset, you can log in to the device.

Remove FRP lock: Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is automatically activated in every Android device during the Google account setup process. Once FRP is enabled and someone wants to reset the device using the Backup & Reset feature, then the system would require the device's security PIN to protect the owner's data and files.
While it’s a good thing in general, it can become a problem if you sell, trade, or even return a new phone without factory resetting it. If you've forgotten to turn off FRP and send a phone to someone else, you'll likely need to help them get it set up. This means giving them access to your Google account password or to have the device returned so you can do it yourself.
The FRP remove function helps the shops and owners to enable the Factory Reset function again on their devices.

Get Info: Retrieve generic, basic information about the device such as serial number, IMIE, model number, etc.

 Network Backup/Restore

- Backup Network: This function will do a backup of the Network. The backup will include the network calibration, network lock state and the IMEI data.

- Restore Network: This feature will restore the already backed up Network. (Only for the same models & SW version)
- Choose the right file from the list.
- Check all the information about the backup file (please be careful, if the backup file was created "before the Direct Unlock" process, the phone will be locked once again).
- Click on the "OK" button.

Remove Screen Lock: If you forget your lock screen password, PIN, or passcode, or if was changed accidentally by your children for example, there is no way to unlock the device without resetting it. This function uses the official Android Debug Bridge (ADB) command-line tool to communicate with the locked device and/or reboots the device in safe mode to remove the screen lock. The device will be set to the default "swipe to unlock” state. Then you can change it back to your original pattern/PIN or set up a new one in the settings.

Q: Upon concluding the procedure, the phone did not boot, either this or it constantly displays error messages. What should I do?

A: This is a very rare case, and can be fixed by any of the following options:
- Re-running the procedure
- Restarting the phone by taking out the battery and putting it back in
- Restarting the phone by issuing the ADB command "adb reboot"

Enable “Diag Port”: Tries to enable the “Diag Port” or the “Phone Check Test' on the phone. LG phones have many different ways of doing this, so this procedure may not work on every phone, but if it does work, it will save you the time to enter the dial code and look for the option.  Even if the procedure fails on your phone, we log each attempt, and will look into finding more solutions to support more phones in the future.

Repair IMEI: The IMEI or MEID number for your mobile phone acts as a unique identifier for that device. No two devices will have the same IMEI or MEID, which makes it a very useful tool for tracking lost or stolen cell phones. You can quickly retrieve and record your phone's IMEI or MEID number in a variety of different ways, depending on your device.  The IMEI number is used by a GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing that network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call their network provider and instruct them to blacklist the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless on that network and sometimes other networks too, whether or not the phone's subscriber identity module (SIM) is changed.  The Repair IMEI function is for restoration of the original IMEI of a device.

Type the correct IMEI number into the box (you can find this on the back corner of the phone under the battery).

Remove FRP Lock: Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a security method that was designed to make sure someone can't just wipe and factory reset your phone in the case that it is lost or stolen. Starting with Android Lollipop, the FRP comes "standard" in the vanilla Android, and most companies making these phones have implemented it in their own models. The problem is that people are selling, trading or even giving away phones already with the FRP enabled and this makes things quite difficult for the next user. This option can remove the FRP also if you do not know the original username / password combination.

SW change:

With this function you can update, downgrade and reinstall the current software version on a device. In most cases this will repair software errors, and can change/add languages as well.It can be flashed in to modes: Update and Fix.

Update will flash the minimum required partitions, and will try to keep the User-data intact, but still, backup is recommended.

Fix will erase all User-data, but most likely will fix any error regarding partition tabled corruption or android system errors.

You can use .kdz extension files that you can find on the internet, or you can download it using our LG Downloader built into Chimera.
It is important to note that you should flash firmwares only created for the specific model of your phone. Flashing a firmware for a different model will result in soft or hard brick!
We implemented a check that warns you if the model-name is significantly different.
Sometimes it will tell you that there is a "model name mismatch". In these cases read the model names of the models, and only continue if you are sure the models are actually of the same hardware and localization, its just that one of the names is missing the localization postfix.
For example if your model is "LG-D855AR" and the firmware is  "LG-D855" it is most likely safe to flash, as the difference is only a localization postfix.
But if if your model is "LG-D855AR" and the firmware is  "LG-H850" do not flash! Its a totally different model, and flashing will cause brick.
