Connection modes

ChimeraTool provides a bundle of features which can be reached in different modes.

SAMSUNG




The above screenshot presents our accessible features for our Samsung devices. Please keep in mind that the available procedures can be different on each model. Therefore we highly suggest checking our supported models' list here where we display all the accessible features on each and every model.
 

Normal mode
 

  • Enable the USB debugging option in the Developer options menu.
  • If the Developer options menu does not appear, go to Settings>>About Phone>>Software Information, and tap on seven times on the Build number line.
  • After that connect the phone to the computer, check the checkbox and click on ”Always allow” from this computer then tap “OK”.
  • Another checkbox will pop-up: “Allow access to phone data?” Tap “Allow”.

Download mode

 

  • Hold down buttons Volume Down+Home+Power

Some of the mainly used features in this mode:

*Please note that the Reset FRP lock works only for certain older models and older Android versions.
 


HUAWEI
 

You can check which features are reachable on Huawei devices in the above picture.
Huawei connection mode description:


Normal mode
 

  • Enable USB debugging option in the Developer options menu. If the Developer options menu item does not appear, go to the About phone section in the Settings menu, and tap five times on the Build number line.

 

Fastboot mode

 

  • Switch off the device
  • Depending on your phone, perform one of the following procedures:
  1. Unplug the USB cable, press and hold the Volume Down button while plugging in the USB cable
  2. Plug in the USB cable, press and hold the Volume Down+Power buttons
     

LUMIA

 

Normal mode

 

  • Switch off the phone. 
  • After that connect it via USB, while pressing the Volume Up button.

 

LG



Normal mode

 

  • Connect the phone via USB.
  • Your phone will display a warning about the connection. Selecting that, you can set the connection method (like charging only, MTP device, etc.)
  • On older phones, you need to select the LG Software option. If that option is missing, choose the MTP device option. It is recommended to turn on USB debugging.

 

Download mode

 

  • First of all, you need to be sure that the correct LG drivers are installed.
  • Turn off the phone and its battery has to be in place.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up button.
  • Connect the switched-off phone to the PC via USB, while still holding the Volume Up button. The phone has to start to power on automatically.
  • Once you see the Download mode logo on the screen, you can release the Volume Up button


MTK

 

If you want to work with the MTK module, you can simply connect the device to normal mode. After that, the Tool will run the so-called “Auto detect” process. If that is done, the Chimera will tell you instructions on what you should do next, how you can change connection mode, etc. In case, you want to skip the Auto detection process, you can put the devices in BootRom mode straight away.

Bootrom mode

 

  • To connect a device in Bootrom mode, you usually have to power off the phone first and then you need to reconnect the USB cable:
  1. While pressing the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously in most cases
  2. While pressing the Volume Down, Volume Up buttons, and Power buttons simultaneously (for Oppo models)
  3. While pressing the Volume Down button for Huawei and Honor models

For the MTK module, the following Chimera features are fully (or partially) available depending on each device's custom configuration:

Please be informed that the accessible procedures can be different based on the connected device’s custom configuration and the tool will display which features can be done on it.

 

XIAOMI

 

EDL mode

 

  • To reach the EDL mode, you will need to disconnect the battery of the phone, then short the test-pads* on the board and reconnect the USB cable meanwhile.
  • When the connection was successfully done, the Tool will recognize the phone as a Qualcomm device. You will need to manually select the brand (Xiaomi) and the exact model type.

*The exact test-pad location of each phone has to be checked on the web.

 

MOTOROLA

 

Normal mode

 

  • Connect the phone via USB.
  • Make sure you enabled the USB debugging option in the Developer options menu item.
  • If the Developer options menu item does not appear, go to the About phone section in the Settings menu, and tap five times on the Build number line.

 

Fastboot mode

 

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Apply one of the procedures below, depending on your phone:
  1. Unplug the USB cable, press, and hold the Volume Down button while plugging in the USB cable.
  2. Plug in the USB cable, press, and hold the Volume Down+ Power buttons.

 

BLACKBERRY

 

Normal mode

 

  • Connect the phones while turned off without the batteries, if those are removable.

 

HTC

 

Normal mode

 

  • Connect the phone via USB.
  • Make sure you enabled the USB debugging option in the Developer options menu item.
  • If the Developer options menu item does not appear, go to the About phone section in the Settings menu, and tap five times on the Build number line.

 

Fastboot mode and download mode

 

  • On older devices, only the Fastboot mode (white background) is available, while on the newer ones, the Download mode (black background) can be enabled as well. To go there, turn off the phone, wait about 5 seconds, then push and hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons.
  • On the newer devices, you can switch from Download mode to Fastboot mode using the option Reboot to Bootloader
